Events Communication and Coordination

I have experience with several aspects of event design and planning, including:
  • Events advertisement and communication (flyers, email announcements, listservs)
  • Content development (choosing topics, selecting speakers)
  • Event moderating (preparing speakers, facilitating dialogue, public speaking)

Sample Work

Events Development and Moderation, Latino Center for Leadership Development

'Gentefication’ - The Changing Face of Urban Development
In 2018 I developed and moderated a panel conversation between sociologist Dr. Alfredo Huante, Mike Koprowski (of Opportunity Dallas) and the Honorable Henry Cisneros, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Speakers discussed the complex racial-ethnic and class-based dimensions to issues of gentrification, including the role of Latinx populations in urban development. I designed the event content, prepared the speakers, and facilitated the panel conversation in front of more than 300 guests. To view a recording of the event, click here.

Events coordination and communication, UConn
Center for Latin American Studies, 2011-2012

During the 2011-2012 academic year I served as a Graduate Assistant for UConn's Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (now "El Instituto"). In this role I was responsible for events coordination and communication.

Selected projects:

"What the Walls Say," Ailyn Morera Ugalde -
I led the Spanish to English translation of the play "Dicen Las Paredes," by Costa Rican Playwright Ailyn Morera Ugalde.

I also designed and disseminated the promotional material for the dramatic reading of the play.
